Acceptable Use and Fair Use

Last updated: 12 October 2026

In short. Use the internet lawfully. Don't harm other people or the network, and don't resell the service without our written agreement. Starlink-based plans without a data cap still follow Starlink's network management, and may run slower at busy times. Fiber plans have no data cap and are not slowed down for heavy use. If something is wrong we talk to you first, except where the matter is urgent, harms others or the network, or an authority lawfully requires us to act at once.

1. Who this applies to

This policy applies to everyone who uses an internet service we provide: Starlink-based plans, fiber, and networks we manage. The account holder is responsible for use of the service at their premises, including use by family, staff and guests. On the Starlink network, Starlink's own Acceptable Use Policy and Fair Use Policy, published at starlink.com/legal, also apply. Starlink may act on a breach of them directly.

2. What is not allowed

3. Fair use and network management

4. Keeping your connection secure

You are responsible for your WiFi password, your devices and who uses your connection. Change default passwords, and do not share your account login. If you think someone is misusing your connection, tell us and we will help you secure it. If you install cameras, use them lawfully and respect other people's privacy.

5. What we do if this policy is broken

  1. We contact you, explain the problem and ask you to stop.
  2. If it continues, or is serious, we may restrict or suspend the service.
  3. For serious or repeated breaches we may end the service. Our Terms of Service explain how.

We may act at once, without warning, where the matter is urgent, harms others or the network, or where a court, the Uganda Communications Commission or another authority lawfully requires it. We co-operate with lawful requests from authorities. We do not monitor the content of your communications, except where the law requires it or you ask us to, for example through a firewall we manage for you.

6. Reporting abuse

To report abuse coming from a DishNet connection, e-mail info@dishnetafrica.com or WhatsApp +256 705 993 348. Include what happened, when, and any evidence. We treat reports in confidence.
